Damnation A.D. - Kingdom Of Lost Souls (1998)

Damnation A.D. formed under the name "Damnation" in 1992 by two veterans of the D.C. straight edge hardcore punk scene, songwriter/guitarist Ken Olden and vocalist Mike McTernan (who is the brother of producer Brian McTernan) where they developed their taste for more heavy and slow music.
Starting as a studio project later they added new members and changed their name into "Damnation A.D.". after some split 7" and a first album in the label Jade Tree, they signed by Revelation records and released "Kingdom Of Lost Souls" a brutal collision between the dynamic sound of hc-metal and their influeces from heavier and slow music. this album can be considered one of the influences of the last period of the spansih band like peter at home (pre-moho).
the came back in 2007 releasing a third album.

Desde Polonia, país raro donde los haya dentro del movimiento, vuelven los chicos cuya banda lleva el nombre del lugar donde se originó la mayor parte del verdadero Stoner Rock. De todos es sabido que la escena europea atraviesa ahora por uno de sus mejores momentos, como muestra tomaremos hoy el segundo full lenght de Palm Desert.
Estos enamorados del desierto ya nos sorprendieron muy gratamente cuando en 2008 y 2009 publicaron su ep Away y su primer larga duración Dawn Of The Burning Sun respectivamente y dejaron claro con ello que también pisaban duro a la hora de hacerse un hueco dentro de la escena mundial.
Probablemente la madurez que han adquirido a los largo de este tiempo sea el detonante para que nos encontremos ante un álbum mucho más inspirado en el hard rock pero siempre aderezado con brisa desértica, siendo clara la influencia de los grandes iconos del Stoner.
Empezando el disco con una intro psicodélica muy característica de las llanuras atizadas por el sol y siguiendo una linea (que no ofrece tregua ninguna) de riffs demoledores que hacen las veces de guias en temas como Chase The Sun, Johnny Goblin y Set Me Free, temas que te sacudirán el cerebro dejándotelo preparado para apreciar mejor la sensación de psicodelia y espacio atemporal en temas que perfectamente pueden realizar las labores de interludio, como son Yerba Mate y Adliwun, este último siendo todo un homenaje al desierto a través de los ritos y conjuros de un chamán indio.
Cuando ya creas que tu mente se ha separado de tu cuerpo y que viaja libre por una larga recta que parte en dos el horizonte, estarás en optimas condiciones para terminar de alucinar con otras dos sacudidas (Jesus y Give Me More) de esa tralla que nos acompañó a lo largo de este viaje y que solo se rompió ante la pesadez representada en The Tempter, teniendo como colofón Solar Trip, que como su nombre indica, se trata de casi diez minutos de ese paisajismo que provoca la genial mezcla de momentos reflexivos con riffs traidos del mismísimo infierno.
Sin más, sirva este post para complementar la demanda por parte de la banda de publicar este excelentísimo trabajo en doomstonercommunity.blogspot.com junto a una humilde reseña, blog hermano. Thanks to the band!!!!!
